Stockinette Stitch Socks

Makes socks with foot 10 5/16" long, leg 5 5/8" long, leg 12" circumference (women's size 10). Make 2.

Yarn
2 skeins Sensations Bamboo & Ewe
Gauge: 28 sts X 36r = 4” X 4” on size 3 needles
Needles
set of 5 #3 dpn

Leg
CO 56 sts using two-needle CO and distribute sts so that there are 14 sts on each of 4 dpn. Work 1" (9 rnds) in single rib, beg each rnd with a K st. Work 4 5/8" (44 rnds) in garter st (looks like St st).

Heel Flap
Slip 28 sts from first two needles onto one needle for the heelp flap. Work back and forth on the 28 heel flap sts as follows:
Row 1 (WS): Slip 1 pwise, P to end, turn.
Row 2 (RS): *Slip 1 pwise, K1, rep from * to end, turn.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until heel flap measures 2" (24r) in length, ending with a RS r.

Turn Heel
Row 1 (WS): p15, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 2 (RS): Slip 1 pwise, K7, K2tog, K1, turn.
Row 3: Slip 1 pwise, p8, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 4: Slip 1 pwise, K9, K2tog, K1, turn.
Cont in this manner -- sipping the first st pwise, working across to 1 st before the gap, working the 2 sts on each side of the gap tog, then working 1 more st and turning the work -- until 16 sts rem.

Gusset
Pick up 12 sts on each side of the heel flap. Rearrange sts so that needle 1 (with the live string) has 16 sts, needle 2 has 18 sts, needle 3 has 16 sts, and needle 4 has 28 sts.
Rnd 1: K all sts.
Rnd 2: Needle 1: K all sts; needle 2: K1, K2tog, K to end of needle; needle 3: K all sts; needle 4: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
The two lines of dec should beon either side of heel flap. Rep Rnds 1 an 2 until needles 2 and 4 have 13 sts rem. End on Rnd 2. Slip 2 sts from either end of needle 1 onto needles 2 and 4. Needle 1 now has 12 sts, needles 2 and 4 have 11 sts, and needle 3 has 16 sts.

Foot
Cont in garter st without dec until foot measures 6 11/16" (45 rnds).

Toe
Rnd 1: Needle 1: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1; needle 2: K1, K2tog, K to end; needle 3: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1; needle 4: K1, K2tog, K to end.
Rnd 2: K all sts.
Rep Rnds 1 and 2 until 30 sts rem, ending with Rnd 1. Rep Rnd 1 only until 14 sts rem. After completing the last rnd, remove marker, and rearrange sts so that there are 7 sts on each needle.
